nepes Selected for the “Large–Small Enterprise Win-Win Smart Factory Construction Support Program”
■ FEMS (Factory Energy Management System) to Be Implemented at Cheongju Campus 1 in Collaboration with the Korea Federation of SMEs and Samsung Electronics
■ KRW 350 Million Project; Investment Burden Reduced Through Samsung Electronics ESG Fund-Linked Financing
nepes, a leading semiconductor backend processing company (Co-CEOs Byung-Koo Lee and Chang-Woo Lee), announced on Thursday, July 16, that it has been finally selected for the 2026 Large–Small Enterprise Win-Win Smart Factory Construction Support Program and will receive financial support to establish a Factory Energy Management System (FEMS) at its Cheongju Campus 1.
The program aims to strengthen manufacturing innovation and competitiveness by supporting the implementation of various types of smart factories tailored to the manufacturing environments of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-sized companies. nepes was selected under the Advanced Smart Factory category and will receive KRW 150 million in support from the Korea Federation of SMEs (KBIZ) and Samsung Electronics.
Through this project, nepes plans to deploy a Factory Energy Management System (FEMS) at Cheongju Campus 1, enabling integrated management of energy and utility data and facilitating data-driven energy-saving initiatives across the site.
FEMS is a platform that centrally manages operational data from major energy sources used in manufacturing facilities, including electricity, as well as key utility systems such as chillers, compressed dry air (CDA) systems, process cooling water (PCW), and deionized water (DI) facilities. The system will enable the systematic collection and analysis of data that has previously been scattered across individual facilities and processes. By monitoring utility consumption and operating conditions in real time, nepes will be able to identify abnormalities and sources of inefficiency at an early stage. Leveraging these insights, the company plans to optimize utility operating conditions and continuously improve energy efficiency at Cheongju Campus 1.
The project has a total budget of KRW 350 million, funded through support from the Korea Federation of SMEs and Samsung Electronics, together with nepes’ own investment. To further reduce its initial investment burden, nepes will also utilize interest-free financing linked to Samsung Electronics’ ESG Fund for its share of the project cost.
