Nepes Selected for “Industrial Energy Management System (EMS) Deployment Support Program”
■ Integrated FEMS to be established for core utility facilities at Cheongju site… Transition to data-driven energy management
■ Government support expected to maximize energy efficiency
Nepes (Co-CEOs Byung-Gu Lee and Chang-Woo Lee), a semiconductor backend processing specialist, announced on Friday the 26th that it has been selected for the “2026 Industrial Energy Management System (EMS) Deployment Support Program” promoted by the Korea Energy Agency. As part of this initiative, the company will build an integrated FEMS for key utility facilities at its Cheongju site.
The core focus of this project lies in the key utilities that drive energy consumption in semiconductor backend processes. Nepes will implement an integrated FEMS covering major energy sources such as electricity, as well as facilities including chillers, compressed dry air (CDA), process cooling water (PCW), and deionized water (DI) systems. Since these facilities account for a large portion of the site’s total energy consumption, even small operational improvements are expected to generate significant energy savings.
Once the system is fully implemented, energy usage across previously dispersed facilities will become visible in real time. This will enable anomaly detection of unusual usage patterns and support optimization of facility operations based on data insights, thereby reducing unnecessary energy waste. Through this process, Nepes aims to systematically enhance overall energy efficiency.
The support structure combines government assistance with contributions from private partners. Nepes will receive partial funding from the government to cover FEMS implementation costs, while also benefiting from an interest-free loan financed through Samsung Electronics’ ESG fund to cover the private share. This combination of public and private support significantly reduces the initial investment burden associated with infrastructure deployment.
