On June 12, Tapdaeseong-dong in Sangdang-gu, Cheongju conducted a large-scale cleanup to improve the living conditions of an elderly couple suspected of hoarding.
The couple had accumulated household waste and discarded items both inside and outside their home over a long period, raising concerns about hygiene and safety.
Around 40 volunteers participated, including groups from LG Energy Solution, Nepes Co., and the Central Office of the Livestock Hygiene Control Support Center.
Over more than six hours, the volunteers removed waste and organized the living space. With support from Renew Energy Chungbuk Co., approximately 20 tons of waste—including old clothes and furniture—were fully collected and disposed of.
The head of Tapdaeseong-dong stated that through close cooperation between the public and private sectors, efforts will continue to ensure that no one in the community is left behind.
